I am in Toronto, I have mint growing in the south west corner of my yard and in regular soil it grows extremely well a unattended. I just leave it I don't add fertilizer or anything, the earth there is a wee bit sandy as it is on the top of a hill that goes down from my yard. My yard is pretty shady but gets some sun. Just to let you know that. Hope you have success in the future.

Thank You tsrebel , I am going to try with one tank, I have a table in my room so I am going to start by bringing in one tank to see how it goes. It would be so much easier for me to work on the tanks if I keep them at the level of my table. The ones higher up on the shelf they are presently on are heavy to take down all the time to work on. vallery

Hi tsrebel , Right now I keep my tanks were the snails can get natural lighting (not direct though) but if I were to move any of the tanks and use artificial light how long should they be exposed to that? I have also heard of full spectrum lighting which people with SAD(those who don't get enough vitamin D during winter months) use and wonder if that would be okay. Thank you vallery

Hi Tsr , Thank you Well the pieces of glass I have are quite thick, they were cut for me from old glass shelves to use for reverse glass paintings, which I never got around to painting. They were cut in squares so it would end up as a cube shape. Only about a gallon size. I better figure out a lot more before I go making something and filling it with water and having it spill all over I guess I would also have to re enforce the outside angles with something as well. Maybe I'd better stick to a smaller easier project at first vallery

Hi shaydee,
It might simply go together, eg. oral prolapse gut extrusion or anal prolapse gut extrusion. You may be able to look it up that way.

Hi Thanks Tsr , And thank you for inspiring me. I'll have to give play by play of my creations . The squirrels are pretty funny in the bird feeder, as I hung it from a wire on a branch, so they get in there and it swings back and forth and so they get a little ride while they snack. vallery

Hi Keeping him at home may be a great Idea . Some more attention than the others may help right now. And perhaps mist him twice a day. You could bath him as well. You could keep him in a plastic food container and poke holes in the lid for air, just make sure the holes are poked upwards through the bottom of the lid so snailie doesn't hurt himself on the edges of the poked holes. Hopefully you can find a clear container so you can see him when he is in there. It is great to know you care so much for these snails Dumbledore vallery

Hi , Is it better to have a glass or plastic tank for aquatic snails? Is one gallon of water per snail acceptable? vallery

Hi, Would anyone know what type of glue (if it is even a glue) they use to seal the inside edges of glass tanks? And a brand name for it if possible. I'd really appreciate your help. Thank you.

Hi Dumbledore , Thank you for your suggestion. At present I have no aquatic snails left as the three I had passed on . I hope to get more but first want to learn more and get the proper equipment etc. before I do so I can care for them properly. They were given to me as a surprize gift and I was not at all prepared but really loved them. Would I buy these calcium drops you mentioned at the pet shop? vallery

Hi, I have come back to this thread to have another look only now I can not view some of the photos posted. If you click on the photos number it says "This forum has exceeded it's attachment space limit." I have tried to discuss this problem about threads that can be very helpful and educational to members and guests but without the photos they are not helpful. I did start a thread about optional donations to help this forum so we have more space but haven't received an answer from Paul yet. As a least few of us are for the Idea of donating to pay for more space but no way of knowing where to send our donations. I hope we can figure something out.

I have never heard of a vet here in Canada that deals with snails would be nice though. Some live a long time, look at Shelly. Rest her soul.

Hi tsrebel , Can't wait to see how your cabinet/cupboard snailarium turns out. I have been tempted many times to turn one of my antique barrister shelves into snailarium shelves as they have the glass doors that open upwards but no clue how to do this. I would imagine I would have to place some sort of glass or plastic tank in each shelf with some sort of door that will open downward perhaps with that front door having screen on it. I don't know but it is so tempting to try to mess around with it to see what I can do. Love your work. Hope to see more of your projects soon. vallery
